Official update timeline
These summaries use the developer’s official Steam news feed and the store listing rechecked on August 25, 2026. They separate confirmed changes from lore posts and from details that still need in-game testing.

US appdetails still lists the Windows Steam SKU at $14.99 with 0% discount. No newer
official community post after Akatori patch 1.0.04 (August 22). Soundtrack and artbook

August 23, 2026 — store recheck
US appdetails still listed the Windows Steam SKU at $14.99 with 0% discount. The newest
official community post was Akatori patch 1.0.04 (August 22). Soundtrack and artbook (August 17)
and console launches (August 15) remain historical facts. Linux is still not listed on the current
Steam store SKU.
August 22, 2026 — patch 1.0.04
The official Akatori patch 1.0.04 post is live. Treat 1.0.04 as the newest numbered Steam build named in the community feed.
Named changes: gamepad button rebinding; Traditional and Simplified Chinese font update; a wall-clinging tutorial in Amber Castle; air currents from Amber Castle to Amber Forest; a flying mob moved in Amber Castle; the altar on the path to the detonator moved in Amber Castle; a more prominent Serpent boss kill-box during the chase.
Bug fixes (summarized, not a full dump): a One Life continue-click death-animation leak; Amber Plant wall lighting; input blocked on quick scene transitions; Major Major arena exit if you die between the kill and the key; minimize ambient/theme bugs; credits Next skipping all credits; Chaos bell/portal issues; Chinese localization display; snowball lighting; Chaos bell behavior in Amber Castle; level-art gaps; difficulty save; minor text. The post also notes over 15 less noticeable changes.
August 20, 2026 — store recheck
US appdetails still listed the Windows Steam SKU at $14.99 with 0% discount. That recheck
did not capture the August 19 1.0.03 community post.
August 19, 2026 — patch 1.0.03
The official Akatori 1.0.03 patch post is live (missed in the August 20 refresh).
Named changes: the Chaos potion now completely fills the chaos bar; Chaos bells moved to secret areas except the first in Amber Castle; Chaos bell markers removed from the map; some kill zones in Amber Castle and Amber Forest replaced with non-lethal ones; difficulty and language combined into one menu; Glider tutorial text; baked lighting optimization; snowy descent art.
Bug fixes include collectible icons and achievements, wall cling, Bastion damage wave, Serpent, Major Major corpse overlap, consumable shuffle, and language/difficulty mix. The post also notes over 20 more minor changes.
August 17, 2026 — soundtrack and artbook
The official post Akatori soundtrack and artbook are out! confirms both extras are now available on Steam. The same-day store API still lists the base game at $14.99 and 0% discount on the Windows Steam SKU. This is extra-material news, not a gameplay patch.
August 15, 2026 — consoles are out
The official post Akatori is on consoles! confirms Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions are available. That dated announcement replaces earlier press-projected console dates. Linux is still not listed on the current Steam store SKU.
August 13, 2026 — patch 1.0.02
The official Akatori 1.0.02 patch post is live. That numbered build is now historical; 1.0.04 is the newest named Steam community patch. Unlisted combat numbers stay unconfirmed.
August 9, 2026 — post-launch patch preparation
The official Steam Community feed said the team was preparing a gameplay and bug-fix patch. That preparation note is now historical: 1.0.02 shipped on August 13.
August 5, 2026 — released on Steam
Akatori is available on Steam for PC. The official store checked on August 12 lists August 6, 2026, while the developer’s launch announcement used August 5, 2026. The page lists 31 Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, full controller support and a single-player tag.
Player impact: all pre-launch “scheduled” wording is now historical. The US listing shows $14.99, currently $12.74 (-15%) with a live countdown. Price and timing vary by region. The official feed does not yet provide a complete release-build patch note in the source checked here.
Still unconfirmed: the historical exact regional unlock time was not captured in this check; the full achievement unlock list, world order and boss roster still need in-game testing.
July 31, 2026 — ChinaJoy and final preparations
The July 31 announcement says Akatori is taking part in the ChinaJoy show and its Steam festival while the team completes final preparations. It repeats the August 5 date but does not announce a new build, patch or gameplay feature.
Player impact: this is confirmation that the announced launch plan was still active on July 31. Event participation by itself does not establish a launch time, price or event-exclusive demo.
July 23, 2026 — August 5 launch confirmed
The release-date post confirms August 5, 2026 and links the announcement trailer. The studio says it is completing the final launch steps.
Player impact: use August 5 instead of older pages that only say 2026 or “coming soon.”
Still unconfirmed: exact regional unlock time, launch price, preload, review timing and day-one patch details are absent from this announcement.
July 20, 2026 — Akatori Tales: Diary
This is a worldbuilding document, not patch notes. It follows a physician recording an amber infection, evacuation failure, shelter problems and the spread of amberization over several days.
Player impact: it adds context for the amber threat and the game’s interworld setting. It does not confirm a playable quest, named location, reward, boss or launch mechanic, so those connections should not be invented.
July 15, 2026 — demo removal notice
The developer announced that the Akatori demo would be disabled on July 22 while preparing the release-date reveal. The main Steam listing checked on July 31 does not list an active demo.
Player impact: guides telling players to download the old demo are stale. Existing local files or library entries are not proof that the demo can still be newly acquired or that it matches launch.
June 29, 2026 — combat and controls demo patch
The last substantial demo patch said current demo saves would be wiped. It reduced automatic Energy regeneration while making basic attacks build Energy faster, rebalanced combat, allowed turning during charged-attack wind-up, added a counterattack to Dodge, and improved controls. The notes also say input lag was removed and airborne behavior was reworked.
Player impact: impressions recorded before this patch may describe an older Energy economy, Dodge behavior or input response. Because the demo was later removed, these notes are historical evidence and not a guarantee that every value stayed unchanged for launch.
