Akatori quest list and encounter guide
Sourced Akatori encounters after 1.0.04/1.0.03: Amber Castle, Serpent kill-box, Chaos bells, plus the five-world objective and 20+ enemy types.
Patch 1.0.04 made the Serpent chase kill-box more prominent, moved a flying mob in Amber Castle, and moved the detonator-path altar. 1.0.03 hid most Chaos bells and replaced some kill zones. The store still lists five worlds and 20+ enemy types; a full quest log is untested.

Akatori quest list and encounter guide
The official August 17 soundtrack and artbook post does not add quest names. Rechecked August 23, this list still starts from the five-world store description and 20+ enemy types, plus named location and encounter changes in patches 1.0.04 and 1.0.03.
Patches 1.0.04 and 1.0.03: named encounter changes
Official Steam news (not a complete encounter table):
- 1.0.04 added a more prominent visual indication of the Serpent boss’s kill box during the chase.
- 1.0.04 changed the position of one flying mob in Amber Castle.
- 1.0.04 moved the altar on the path to the detonator in Amber Castle.
- 1.0.03 moved Chaos bells from prominent locations to secret areas, except the first one in Amber Castle, and removed Chaos bell markers from the map.
- 1.0.03 replaced kill zones in one Amber Castle level and one Amber Forest level with non-lethal ones.
The posts do not name other bosses, give coordinates, or publish a full quest log. Map-side detail for air currents and the wall-cling tutorial lives on map progression.
Quest list after the August 17 extras post
Akatori begins with Mako, a teenage battle monk raised in the Firebird Temple. Amber Storms are infecting and distorting living things, while the amber crystals left behind are both the foundation of civilisation and its curse. The official objective is to travel through five unique worlds with the red-bird staff companion and stop the storms.
That is the complete high-level objective currently visible in the official store description as checked August 12, 2026. There is no published chapter list, objective wording, world order, side-quest count or missable quest table. This page therefore indexes confirmed encounter knowledge rather than pretending to be a finished walkthrough.
| Quest or encounter layer | Confirmed objective/rule | Verification boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Firebird Temple setup | Begin Mako’s journey from the temple and investigate the Amber Storms | Exact tutorial objectives unknown |
| Five-world journey | Cross five worlds, each with its own biome, story and challenges | Amber Castle and Amber Forest are named in 1.0.03/1.0.04; full order unpublished |
| Staff progression | Unlock staff abilities to explore previously unreachable corners | Unlock locations and sequence unpublished |
| Enemy reset | In the June demo, enemies spawn after resting at special stones or level transitions | Launch rules may differ |
| Underwater sections | Manage a separate Breath meter and react to low-air warning | Exact area names and Breath duration unknown |
| Internal Chaos | Fight enemies, focus Chaos in Manipura, activate the Bell and destroy projections in virtuality | Inputs and quest placement unpublished |
Officially profiled regular encounters
The store page confirms more than 20 regular enemy types in the released game. The list below is deliberately smaller because each row needs a first-party profile.
| Enemy | Official behavior | Evidence-based response | Unknown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amber Mole | Hides underground; shifting earth reveals it; jumps out and charges | Watch the ground and strike at the right moment; it is blind and slow to react | Damage, health, locations |
| Amber Anglerfish | Hides in underwater sand with a light visible, then rushes | Swim away or make its hard-to-stop sprint collide with a stone wall | Drop table and exact biome |
| Amber Bat | Waits under cave ceilings, spins through an aerial attack and retreats upward | Anticipate the dive and punish with correct timing | Number per group and rewards |
| Amber Horsefly | Changes angle and height, spits venom that remains harmful on the ground | Avoid persistent venom zones and choose a reachable attack window | Venom duration and resistance |
| Upside-down Toad | Uses a long tongue to pull nearby creatures upward | Be ready to counter; its pull can also lift other monsters or Mako | Whether every pull can be exploited |
These descriptions support tactics, not a complete bestiary. They do not establish that all five appear in the retired Steam demo or in a specific world.
Encounter reset rules from the June demo
The latest public Steam demo patch removed the old “every 20 seconds” enemy timer. Spawning became trigger-based: enemies return when resting at special stones and when transitioning between levels. That is useful for practice and route planning, but it is explicitly a demo patch fact. Launch may rename stones or alter resets.
The same patch prevents monsters from overlapping by making them spread out and adds enemy highlighting. Those changes are important when comparing footage: a crowded encounter from an older build may no longer represent current behavior.
How to use this list without over-reading it
Treat an environmental cue as part of the encounter. Moving earth signals Mole, a light in underwater sand signals Anglerfish, ceiling darkness can hide Bats, and venom changes safe ground against Horsefly. The developer repeatedly frames creatures as an ecosystem: enemies can interact with hazards and one another, as the Toad profile explicitly demonstrates.
But a profiled behavior is not a guaranteed quest objective. We do not attach fake labels like “Quest 12: Defeat 10 Amber Moles,” because no such quest was published.
Missing release data
The full quest list, side quests, NPC requirements, five-world order, boss names, rewards, drops and missable flags remain unverified in the released build. This page will be split into a tested quest checklist and a versioned bestiary as those are confirmed; until then, it is a source-backed encounter index.
